Wills World Cup, 1996
The event returned to the subcontinent and was hosted by three nations: India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won the most elaborate World Cup trophy after easily defeating Australia in the championship game in Lahore.
ICC World Cup, 1999–present
In the end, the international governing body decided to use a single trophy for all future winners. The new design, a ball and three stumps, is a golden globe supported by three silver columns. The names of previous winners are engraved on the base of the trophy.
