From the diary-pages of piolet Rashid Minhas Shaheed
Rashid Minhas Shaheed is the youngest and sole PAF officer to receive the Nishan-e-Haider, the highest military honor. This flying officer, who was born in Karachi on February 17, 1951, possessed all the charismatic mannerisms that a dedicated flying officer could possess.
Rashid’s parents and older siblings had expressed on numerous occasions that he grew up collecting fighter jet models and playing with them. Often, he would share his passion for flying with glistening eyes.
Rashid had a quiet and calm personality. He was regarded as a deep-thinking youngster by all his family members and close relatives. The same deep-thinking habit had turned Rashid into an amazing youngster.
During his training at the PAF Academy Risalpur, he distinguished himself as a remarkable debater. When Rashid began speaking for any declamation competition, he had everyone sitting in the audience riveted.
Nonetheless, Rashid showed actual leadership skills, such as being an excellent negotiator, a highly focused young man, and adamant about achieving the specified goals. Yet! Above all, he was a wonderfully humble soul.
He never showed anyone even the least scorn or arrogance. He was a happy-go-lucky young man who made everyone around him smile.
Aside from all of Rashid Minhas Shaheed’s personality qualities, he had a strong habit of writing journal entries on a daily basis. On those pages, one might find the real Rashid Minhas, who was a true dream-chaser with goals beyond the sky.
His diary was filled with his heartfelt emotions for his family, his everlasting love for Motherland, and his inexplicable desire to embrace martyrdom. Rashid used to write his journal entries with the date and time correctly noted.

On one page, he wrote his heart out for the martyrdom,
“Death or Victory! We all have to die one day. Man is mortal. Then why not die for the country? Isn’t so easy?”
It was mentioned above that Rashid was a deep thinker. Now, read these lines from his one letter about life and its truth. One will concede to his philosophical approach to life,
“Man wants to know the Truth, the truth about himself, about the world, about everything.
This is what they call the eternal quest for truth or truth through knowledge. Of -course religion gives it all to you in a concise form but it does not stop you from finding out for yourself and strengthening your belief. That is how it must be with you. So, youmustfindout theTruthyourself. Satisfy yourself. The books just give you the thing how it happens. People can just advise you. How? and why? You must answer it yourself. Think it out! ”
One page of his diary shares one beautiful two-quatrain poem about life and its purpose for upcoming generations, It expresses,
This world is but a stopping place,
And life but a short span,
So why not through time race,
And accomplish whatever we can,
So that generations to come,
Will remember us as great ones!
We cannot but forever live,
And we have to die for once,
So why not to our country give,
The life which we can easily can!
Human carries light within and sees the self, life, world, and entire universe through its prism. This light has been given and is guided by the Divine Himself. Blessed are those who succeed in seeing this light. Even more blessed are those who transfer this light to fellow humans. This person is known as the benevolent. Rashid Minhas was one such most fortunate in this regard.
