NUST announces 2 free seats for needy students under Arshad Sharif Endowment Fund

NUST announces 2 free seats for needy students under the Arshad Sharif Endowment Fund.

The recently announced “Arshad Sharif Endowment Fund” will provide two perpetually free seats for first-generation mass communication students applying to the National University of Science and Technology (NUST).

The family of the late Arshad Sharif, a highly regarded Pakistani journalist, writer, and television news anchor, has made a significant donation to NUST.

The donation, made in the name of the ‘Arshad Sharif Endowment Fund,’ will provide two permanent free seats for first-generation Mass Communication students who are unable to fund their education at NUST.

The endowment seat will be a memorial tribute to Sharif’s significant contribution to journalism and will help to preserve the legacy of his notable work.

Arshad Sharif rose to prominence in the field due to his expertise in investigative journalism and his coverage of various political incidents throughout the country for national and international news organisations.

On March 23, 2019, President Arif Alvi awarded him the Pride of Performance for his important achievements in reporting and journalism.

A Pakistani journalist was shot dead by the Kenyan police on October 23 last year when he was travelling to the capital, Nairobi, from the country’s Magadi town.

The Kenyan police claimed that the journalist was shot in a case of mistaken identity; however, the details that emerged later contradicted the claims.

Last month, a detailed fact-finding report suggested that Arshad’s murder was a planned, targeted assassination as investigators led by the FIA dismissed Kenyan police who claimed killing Sharif in a “case of mistaken identity.”.
