Women SHO suspended for ‘stealing money’ from complainant’s purse. Inspector Irum Khanum, the Station House Officer (SHO) at the Women’s Police Station, has been relieved of her duties following allegations of theft and blackmail.
The accusations came to light after an inquiry, prompted by a complaint lodged by a female visitor and conducted by fellow officer Anita Naseem.
The inquiry, which was initiated by the Superintendent of Police (SP) Headquarters Rawalpindi, revealed that there was no discernible connection between Anita Naseem, who had previously been dismissed from her position, and the complainant.
The conflict between SHO Irum Khanum and Constable Anita Naseem surfaced a month ago, leading to the initial inquiry that resulted in Naseem’s termination, according to reports from Tribune.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the outcome, both Anita Naseem and the victim escalated the matter to the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi, who subsequently ordered a fresh inquiry. This new investigation was overseen by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arif Shehbaz of the Regional Investigation Branch Rawalpindi.
During the course of the inquiry, the victim alleged that SHO Irum Khanum had attempted to exert pressure through private channels and had even offered monetary compensation in an effort to resolve the matter amicably.
The findings of this subsequent inquiry were submitted by SSP Arif Shehbaz to RPO Rawalpindi.
In light of these developments, Inspector Uzma has been appointed as the new SHO of the Women’s Police Station in Rawalpindi.
As Women SHO suspended for ‘stealing money’ from complainant’s purse, the case highlights the commitment to accountability within the police force and the importance of thorough investigations to maintain public trust in law enforcement agencies.
