The new feature, which was officially announced in a blog post on Monday morning, provides Google with advice on the most cost-effective time to book flights.
This addition contributes to the platform’s already existing price tracking alerts and price guarantee option.

The tech titan has promised to reveal new information about the “cheapest time to book.”
“For searches with reliable trend data, you’ll now see when prices have typically been lowest to book your chosen dates and destination,” said Google in the blog post.
As Google launches a new feature that helps book cheaper flights, here’s how it works:
For example, the new information could tell you that the best time to book similar trips is usually two months before departure, and you’re currently in that window.
Or you might discover that prices usually drop closer to departure, so you decide to wait before booking. In either case, you’ll have more confidence in your decision.
The tech titan has also revealed its flight booking trends for 2023, which are based on historical pricing patterns observed on Google Flights.
Secure a price guarantee:
“On some flight results, you’ll see a colorful price guarantee badge, which means we’re especially confident the fare you see today won’t get any lower before departure. When you book one of these flights, we’ll monitor the price every day before takeoff, and if the price does go down, we’ll pay you back the difference via Google Pay,” the blog post notes.
“These price guarantees are part of a pilot programme available for select Book on Google itineraries departing from the US.”

According to Google, the best time to find deals for trips beginning in mid-December is in early October.
Average prices are typically lowest 71 days before departure, a significant shift from our 2022 findings, which revealed that average prices were lowest only 22 days before departure. In addition, the typical low price range is now 54-78 days prior to takeoff.
The best time to book flights from the US to Europe is:
Prices have been at their lowest 72 days or more before departure on average. In other words, average airfares from the United States to Europe tend to rise over time, particularly once you’re about 10 weeks out from departure. So, if you want to dust off that passport, make your flight reservation as soon as possible.
